The Limelight Series
LimeLight, intimately documents the internal dialogue between the performer and the performance, the public and the private. Within each portrait is a unique and delicate world full of beauty and contrast.
They are performers that exist on the cusp of society.
Woolley deconstructs the ideas that surround representation and identity, leaving the viewer unable to judge so quickly, questioning any preconceived ideas they may have about the type of person that the individuals in LimeLight are suppose to represent. Captured almost in character, in costume, taking that last breath before going on, yet they are at home, grounded by the reality of the everyday.
These images bring together the personality and the personal space to create a more honest picture of these individuals, unguarded yet completely aware.
